Trewhel-ju is very close to some lovely walking ~ whether you want the coastal path with its stunning scenery, or the canal towpath with its level access. There are many footpaths to explore, too. Why not take a leisurely stroll along the canal to the Weir Cafe & Bistro for a cream tea? (www.weir-restaurant-bude.co.uk) There’s also an interesting wildlife centre to look at.
Or hire a bike from Bude Bike Hire, just across the valley from Trewhel-ju – the River Life Cafe is right next door to Bude Bike hire, ideal for a snack before or after your ride (www.budebikehire.co.uk).

Lots of beaches to visit – try out the iconic Bude sea pool at Summerleaze beach (www.budeseapool.org), or try some surfing activities locally (www.atlanticpursuits.co.uk) - and of course the lovely harbour village at Boscastle is just a short drive from here.
You might like to explore the ancient town of Launceston with its Norman castle, about half an hour’s drive away. While you are there, don’t miss a trip to Cowslip Workshop’s cafe (www.cowslipworkshops.co.uk) and, if you are a patchwork/needlecraft fan, visit the shop and exhibition, or book a workshop for some expert tuition.
Further afield (about an hour’s drive) is the world-famous Eden Project – a must to see while you are in Cornwall (www.edenproject.com).
You might want to go to Port Isaac for the Doc Martin connection – it’s an extremely picturesque spot; Padstow and Rock are also not far away.
A real must is a trip to Cornwall’s Minack theatre on the cliffs at Porthcurno, whether to see a performance or just visit, it’s well worth the trip of approx 2 hours’ drive (www.minack.com). The beach at Porthcurno is lovely; dolphins and basking sharks are sometimes seen in the area.
